Hey everyone, it’s Nelly from Antonelli Baseball. I’m excited to share a few drills you can do solo, with a partner, or in almost any setting to boost your throwing accuracy. These drills are great for any position, but today, we’re focusing on pitching.

Baseball Accuracy Drills

Here are the best baseball drills for accuracy:

  • Turn-and-Burn Drill: Position yourself with your back to targets (top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right, and center). Have a partner call out a target, and then quickly turn and throw to that spot. This enhances body awareness, crucial for consistent pitching. If you are alone, visualize the target.

  • Over-and-Under Baseball Drill: Use baseballs of different weights (4-ounce and 6-ounce). With the heavier ball, focus on throwing low, glove-side, to improve extension. With the lighter ball, aim high and away, arm-side, to refine control. Throw at 80% exertion, whether to a partner or targets.

  • Agility Drill with a Lean Back: Incorporate agility into your throwing motion. Perform a modified lean back with a backward bound, getting into handbrake position before each throw. Have a partner call out targets as you bound to increase the difficulty and improve adaptability.

Improving accuracy involves enhancing body awareness through varied drills. Adding variables pushes your central nervous system, making it easier to hit targets on the mound.
