Solo Baseball Infield Training
Essential Solo Infield Drills
-
Ball Handling: Focus on soft hands and constant contact with the baseball. Practice going around your torso, legs, and in a figure eight between your legs. This improves your feel for the ball and develops soft hands.
-
Right Left Tap Tap: Practice the correct footwork for fielding ground balls: right-left, tap-tap. Focus on having a “butt back” position with a flat back to prepare for bad hops.
-
Right Left Catch Step Through: Build on the previous drill by adding a step through to your throwing position. This helps you funnel the ball and maintain momentum toward your target.
-
Wall Ball: Use a wall to simulate ground balls and short hops. Incorporate the right-left catch and step-through drills. This versatile drill can be done with a baseball or tennis ball.
-
Momentum Drill: Use three cones to practice rounding the ball and gaining momentum toward your target. This prevents you from getting stuck and improves your throwing power.
-
Fielding Position Walk: Practice walking while staying low in your fielding position. This drill enhances your posture, positioning, and leg strength, helping you maintain form even when tired.
These drills are designed to help you get better, even when you don’t have a teammate. So you can take your game to the next level.
