Hey baseball players, coaches, and parents! Today, we’re diving into five awesome hitting drills using a connection ball to refine your swing. If you don’t have a connection ball, no worries! A soccer ball or deflated ball works just as well. These drills will help you stay connected and avoid common mistakes like barring your arm.

Key Baseball Hitting Drills with Connection Ball

  • Elbow Pit Drill: Place the ball in your elbow pit to maintain a connected arm throughout your swing. Focus on keeping your bicep, forearm, and bat aligned. This will prevent your arm from barring out and maintain a strong connection through your turn.

  • Back Arm Drill: Hold the ball tight with your back arm to ensure your elbow stays close to your body, and your barrel stays connected to your shoulder. If you get disconnected or recast your arm, the ball will fall out. This drill emphasizes staying compact and connected through contact.

  • Top Hand Isolation Drill: Similar to the back arm drill, but isolate your top hand. Keep your elbow tight to your body and your barrel tight to your shoulder, extending through the zone.

  • Shoulder Drill: Place the ball on top of your shoulder and hold it with the bat. Maintain pressure to keep it tight to your body. This helps keep your elbow and barrel connected, preventing casting.

  • Lower Half Drill: Place the ball between your legs to promote hip coiling during your load. As you coil, the ball rolls over your knee, forcing you to engage your hips correctly before striding and swinging.

These drills are great for reinforcing proper mechanics and ensuring a connected, powerful swing.
