Hey there, baseball enthusiasts! Coach Justin from Ultimate Baseball Training is here to share some dynamic drills aimed at supercharging your throwing velocity. Remember, consistent effort is key—performing these drills 2-4 times a week will yield the best results. Always listen to your body and adjust based on how your arm feels. Let’s dive in!

Key Throwing Drills to Increase Velocity

Here are a few baseball throwing drills to add to your training program:

  • Knee Drills: Start on one knee, mimicking the finish of a throw. Rock forward and back, then explode upward into a throw. A variation involves staying on your knee for the throw.

  • Explosive Weight Transfers: Stand as if you just finished a throw, rock forward and back explosively, and then make a strong throw. Focus on quick, powerful movements rather than slow, drawn-out motions.

  • Run and Gun: At long toss distance, run for about five yards to build speed and momentum, then transition into a crow hop and throw. Emphasize a high arc and big arm motion when distancing from your partner, and focus on pulling down with your fingers as you get closer.

  • Skaters: Mimic a skating motion, hopping back and forth while maintaining a good throwing position. After several hops, explode into a throw, using the momentum from your legs.

Incorporating these drills into your regular training routine can significantly enhance your throwing velocity and overall performance. Consistent practice and attention to proper form are essential for maximizing results.
