Here are pitching drills you can do at home to elevate your game. No equipment is needed, and these drills will help improve your pitching skills.
Baseball Pitching Drills You Can Do At Home
Balance and Control Drills
-
Leg Lift Balance: Hold your leg lift position for 5-10 seconds to improve balance and control. An advanced version includes moving your lead foot forward and backward while maintaining balance.
-
Full Motion Drill: Combine the leg lift balance with toe taps, moving backward and forward, and then drive through your motion without throwing the ball. This helps build muscle memory.
-
Follow-Through Balance: Perform reverse leg lifts, turning your hips and shoulders, and mimic a throwing motion to enhance balance and leverage during your follow-through.
These drills help to make sure we’re getting over that front side and really making sure we drive that ball down through the zone as hard and often as possible.
Wall Drill for Alignment
Use a wall to correct issues with flying open or over-rotating. The goal is to maintain a straight line from head to belt, ensuring all power goes directly toward the catcher. Practice your motion near the wall, avoiding contact to stay aligned.
These at-home pitching drills will help you improve your balance, control, and alignment, leading to better performance on the mound.
