Hey there, baseball enthusiasts! Coach Justin from Ultimate Baseball Training is here to share three fantastic pitching drills designed specifically for young players. These drills focus on enhancing mechanics, balance, and overall pitching performance.

Youth Pitching Drills

Key Drills for Pitching Improvement:

  • Lead with the Hip Drill: Use a wall or fence to practice leading with your front hip. This drill promotes proper hip movement, crucial for generating velocity and accuracy. By falling into the fence as you practice the motion, you learn to engage your hips effectively.

  • Reverse Toe Tap Drill: Focus on balance by bringing your front foot up and tapping it lightly behind your planted foot. This exercise strengthens stabilizer muscles, enhancing overall body control, which is essential for consistent pitching.

  • Ball Pickup Drill: Place a baseball in front of your back foot. Bring your knee up, bend down to pick up the ball, and return to the starting position. This drill significantly improves balance and coordination. For added variation, use three balls placed slightly apart and alternate which ball you pick up.

These drills are designed to help young pitchers develop essential skills and mechanics. Consistent practice will lead to improved velocity, accuracy, and overall command on the mound.
